About this policy
Skylab is operated by Arput Agrawal as a sole proprietor under the trading name Skylab. Arput Agrawal is responsible for the handling of personal information described in this policy.
This policy covers Skylab at skylab.website, including Google sign-in, email sign-in, learning progress, and practice features. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at founders@skylab.website.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name and profile-photo URL when available, Google account identifier, and information needed to verify your sign-in. Email sign-in uses your email address and a verification code. We do not receive your Google password.
- Learning information. We process lesson completion, playback positions, practice messages, and the responses needed to support your learning. Signed-in progress is saved to your account; guest progress is kept in your browser.
- Voice input. If you choose dictation, your browser sends microphone audio to our speech provider for transcription. The resulting text can become a practice message when you send it. You can use text input instead.
- Technical information. Our infrastructure processes request information, such as IP addresses, and security or error logs to deliver the service, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems.
How we use Google information
We use your Google account identifier and email to create and authenticate your Skylab account. Your name and profile photo help identify your account in the interface. We store the photo URL and load the image from Google when it is displayed; this sends an image request to Google.
We request only basic sign-in permissions. We do not request access to your Gmail inbox, contacts, Drive files, or Calendar. We do not sell your Google profile information, use it for personalized advertising, or use it to train AI models.
Skylab’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements where applicable.
How we use and share other information
We use account and learning information to operate Skylab, save your progress, provide practice replies, send sign-in codes and account-related messages, and keep accounts secure. Signing in does not subscribe you to a marketing mailing list.
We use service providers to host the application and media, store account and learning data, deliver email, transcribe voice input, and generate practice responses. These include Google Cloud, Supabase, our email provider, Deepgram for dictation, and OpenRouter and its selected model providers for practice responses. Practice text and relevant lesson context are sent to the AI providers; your Google account identifier and profile photo are not included in those requests.
Providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies and may operate in countries outside your own. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect the service and its users.
Cookies and browser storage
We use essential cookies for sign-in sessions and verification challenges. Learner sessions can last up to 90 days unless you sign out or the session is revoked. Browser storage holds guest progress and playback information. Clearing browser storage can remove guest progress; signing out does not delete your account or saved account progress.
Retention and security
We retain account information and saved learning data while needed to provide your account and learning history, unless you request deletion. Verification codes and challenges expire after ten minutes. Expiry prevents further use; expired records may remain until cleanup runs. Limited records may be retained where needed for security, legal obligations, or resolving disputes.
We use measures including encrypted connections in production, hashed session tokens and verification codes, and access controls. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and deletion requests
You can use Skylab as a guest, sign out, stop using voice input, or remove Skylab’s access through your Google account connections. Removing Google access does not itself delete your Skylab account.
To request access, correction, or deletion of your account, Google profile information, or saved learning data, email founders@skylab.website from the email address associated with your account. We may verify ownership before acting. Rights and any applicable exceptions depend on your location. Backup copies may remain until normal backup replacement.
Children and changes to this policy
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided information without any permission required by local law, please contact us so we can review and address it.
We will update the date above when this policy changes. If we materially change how we use Google information, we will provide notice and obtain any additional consent required before using it for the new purpose.
